Design-a-Bag to THANK an Educator - At-Home Project

Summary
KIC is collaborating with Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) to design 40 bags for educators to fill with school supplies for their 2024-25 classrooms. We need 10 families to each decorate 4 bags at-home with positive thank you messages, cute drawings of school supplies, etc. using markers/crayons/pencils from your house. We will provide the “blank bags.” Then KIC families will independently decorate at home and return decorated bags to a Whitefish Bay location.
MOWA will host an Educator Open House on Saturday, September 28 from 10:00-1:00. During this event MOWA will offer a “buffet” of school supplies to the first 40 attending educators. These 40 educators will receive the personally designed bags by KIC kids at the Open House.
Description
Impact: KIC kids will decorate bags to thank and honor educators. These bags will set up educators for a successful start of the year. The personal touch by the children will bring joy, love and appreciation to the educators!
Activity: Your family will pick up 4 “blank bags” from a Whitefish Bay location during the first two weeks of September. Your child or children will decorate the bags with your own art supplies at home. Once your bags are decorated, you can return them to the same location by Monday, September 23rd. Lynn (project leader) can assist with drop-off or pick-up of bags, if needed.
When and Where:
You will decorate four bags at your own home.
Your family will pick up a set of four “blank bags” from the front porch box at 6161 N Bay Ridge Ave., Whitefish Bay, any day between September 3rd through 13th during the hours of 9:00 am and 8:00 pm.
Return decorated bags by Monday, September 23rd at 8:00 pm to the same address.
Participant Cap: 10 families. We need 40 total bags.
Age: All ages!
Cost: Free.
Materials: Colored pencils/crayons/markers. Use your own craft supplies at home to enhance your projects. Creativity is encouraged!
