KIC + First Stage Lovabye Dragon Book Party

Share the MAGIC and LOVE of reading with your children AND children throughout Milwaukee! KIC invites you to bring new or dignity-condition books to First Stage and join us for an interactive theater workshop bringing Barbara Joose’s Lovabye Dragon to life! 

Project Description

First Stage will host KIC families for a special Lovabye Dragon Book Party! Families are encouraged to bring new or dignity-conditioned books to share with children in Milwaukee through Bernie’s Book Bank and Next Door Milwaukee. A discount code will be provided to registrants who would like to purchase tickets for the 11:00 or 1:00 First Stage productions of Lovabye Dragon.

Activities

When families arrive at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, we will gather in the Ellington Room. We will be collecting books for KIC + First Stage’s “A Dragon-Sized Book Drive.” First Stage teaching staff will lead KIC families in an interactive theater workshop where kids will learn theater skills, read Lovabye Dragon and act out the story together.

For families interested in attending one of the First Stage productions of Lovabye Dragon that day, we will provide a discount code upon registration. There is an 11:00 performance right before the party and a 1:00 performance right after the party.

***If you cannot attend this event, but you would like to donate books, there will be a book collection box in the MYAC lobby outside the Goodman Theater from 1/22 through 2/20. Families are welcome to drop off book donations throughout the entire First Stage run of Lovabye Dragon at MYAC.***

Impact

Through book donations and bringing reading to life, kids will experience the magic and love that reading can bring to ALL children in our community.

Registration Information

Participant Cap: 35 people

Age: The workshop is geared for ages 3-8 but all ages are welcome and First Stage staff will adjust to the age level of participants.

Cost: FREE. Book donations are highly encouraged. 

If families are interested in attending the First Stage production of Lovabye Dragon before or after the book party at 11:00 or 1:00, families can purchase tickets through First Stage. We will provide a discount code to registrants via email.
